Dr. Rajeev Fernando is a disaster medicine specialist who is a Founder & President of the CHIARJ, a global humanitarian non-profit organization based in USA. He has been operating in Ukraine since February 2022 and now operates in Turkey as a Special Advisor to the Director of Health for Earthquake Response. Additionally, Dr. Fernando serves as Executive Director for Field Operations at the Society of Disaster Medicine and Public Health. He completed his Disaster Medicine Fellowship at BIDMC/Harvard Medical School. He worked across the United States as a consultant for FEMA-based COVID-19 field hospitals. Additionally, he managed COVID-19 cases in India, Brazil, and Mexico. He has provided virtual support for the Ministry of Health for Yemen during COVID-19.

Dr. Fernando has successfully led, organized, and participated in numerous humanitarian/refugee missions, some of which are:

• Darfur, Sudan on mission with Doctors Without Borders;
• The Rohingya refugee crisis in Bangladesh; and
• Tsunami relief in India.

He has consistently been voted amongst New York’s best Infectious Diseases doctors for the last nine years. He has given his medical opinions on networks including CNN, BBC, Fox, and Forbes.
